Mornington Book Launch

Signing books at the Mornington launch of Mokie and Bik. Meredith Horton from Farrells Books did the great display – who’d have thought of twin cockatoos! (Or pirates, as Mokie and Bik would say.)

The launch was a lot of fun, and exactly what I wanted it to be – a kids’ event. Nine year old twins Claire and Peter launched it with Michelle Hamer, a friend and fellow author. They read a script i’d prepared from the book, and then when Michelle said the appropriate word: launch – they launched two little wooden rowboats on a big bowl of water. (We removed it before the signing – much to the disappointment of a couple of three year olds… but it did seem wiser)
